A Tree has JP Rances Parents as;

Charles RANCE 1769-1829 born Hindlesham, Suffolk
Sarah PODD 1769-1855 born Barking, Suffolk
They married;
1 Apr 1793 • Sproughton, Suffolk

I cant confirm this as I have no access to those Parish Records.

But;

1841 in Hindlesham we have a SARAH Rance age 70 (1771), Occp Ind ( of Independant means)

1851 she is born c 1769 Needham, Widow, Proprietor of Houses

The Tree does not have these Census details.

Next door is a Garrod Family, Mother DIANA Garrod age 31 born 1820 Hintlesham

They have a Daug Sarah age 10;

This may not be relevant but as there is another Garrod child with Mary Rance in 1851 I thought it was worth mentioning,

Oh wow! Thank you so much for taking the time to find that information for me. I had seen the census with Sarah Garrod on it but hadn't realised her mother's maiden name was Rance. I think that as Needham and Hintlesham are mentioned quite a lot, I can probably assume that John Podd Rance's parents are Charles Rance and Sarah Podd. It would make sense that he was a Podd Rance too. I don't think Needham and Hintlesham are very big villages so there are unlikely to be another Rance family with the same names.
