Graham, Henry (1889)
« on: Friday 15 November 19 05:38 GMT (UK) »
I am looking for my Grandfather’s brother Henry. Henry was born in Avoch in 1889 (his mother Harriet McLean (1849-1889) died in childbirth).

I can still find the family in 1901 census living in Blair Atholl, Perthshire with their father(Donald 1837).

My Grandfather (Alexander 1887) came to South Africa sometime before WW1 - and survived Delville Wool. He married after the war and had 3 sons and a daughter.

I can find no evidence of Henry after 1901 census - I chased down a couple of red herrings - I am hoping someone can assist me.

A Henry Graham b 1889 occ butcher left Glasgow for St John New Brunswick Canada on 1.3.1913.  If it is your Henry, he should be on the 1911 census which is only available on Scotlands People

Unfortunately there are other Henry Graham's in the same birthyear range

His father died 1931 - did he leave a will?

Please correct me if I am wrong but I thought AVOCH, (or Auch), was a parish county of Ross, Scotland?

Thanks so much.

I know Alexander came to South Africa (never found record of his journey however).

Just always draw a blank on Henry - I am starting to suspect he did not survive childhood.

Thanks for your input and information.

DONALD GRAHAM   Married    HARRIET MCLEAN   1876   Forres

Its likely that Christina was a relative of Donalds, maybe his daughter if the marriage above was his second.
GRAHAM   CHRISTINA   1863   Forres Vol2

No obvious death for Henry born 1889 +/- 2 year, none of them young and not that many age
20 – 24 on 1911 census, it would be worth a look on SP but as already mentioned he may have emigrated by then.
