Admin history The congregation of Ecclefechan Free Church was established in 1843 at the time of the disruption and by October of that year as many as 800 adherents to the Free Church were attending service. The charge was sanctioned in 1845. In the beginning, the Ecclefechan congregation met in temporary wooden accommodation however a stone church was erected in later years. In 1900, following the union of the United Presbyterians and the Free Church, Ecclefechan Free Church was renamed Ecclefechan East United Free Church, however in 1915 Ecclefechan East United Free was united with the congregation of Ecclefechan West United Free, under the name of Ecclefechan. The charge of Ecclefechan Free Church and of East United Free sat within the jurisdiction of the Presbytery of Lockerbie and later of Annandale.
Hope this helps
