Immediately north of Kilwinning on the Ayrshire coast are the towns of Stevenson, Saltcoats and (known locally as the 3Towns). I knew more than a few Sheddens as a boy in Saltcoats. Expat 3Towners have their own website with a genealogy board at  https://www.threetowners.net/forum/

You must register (free) and can then post to the genealogy board.

Hi gingerbits
SHEDDEN BDMs at Kilwinning from the Ardrossan & Saltcoats Herald (ASH) Intimations can be located at  ayrshire-roots.co.uk.  Although ASH did not commence publication until 1856, cross-referencing the relevant Intimations with Census and OPRs may prove fruitful for you.
NOTE: The date displayed in the Intimation is NOT the date of the event but the publication date of the ASH edition.
