Hi Maureen, if you search on google for Silvercedar you will see 3 or 4 items about this cargo ship. One of the items is a list of survivors and as Seadog says your father is not mentioned, I too was going to suggest you contacted them. They would be interested in your photos too.

You will need some kind of proof. A copy of your dads Discharge book should be fine.

Well I've given this a try, but it is not right, unfortunately your copy did not have enough detail to do a proper restoration. Here is my attempt.

Probably not worth posting this, but I thought I'd have a go at it. I'll upload a smaller size since it didn't work anyway. I straightened and cropped it a bit. Maybe your cousin could have the photo scanned or you could get a decent print made from the negative.
