Here's the mystery word lightened.
Are there any other 'B's on the page Naizam?

I’m only replying as this is an amazing coincidence.

Part of the village I live in (Dunning) is called Newton of Pitcairns. It’s the area the weavers lived in, and had a reputation for being quite rough!

(I only found this site by accident, and that was the first post I saw).

Does that make any sense in the context?  I’m about a mile from Newton of Pitcairns.

Can you please look at the image (1778) to see if you can decipher a possible name for "South _____ of Pitcairns"

My reply was only to say what the closest place name was which I could find for the era although the image is very difficult to read but also looks as though the ink is smudged on the initial of the unknown place name?

Have also found Mains of Pitcairn(s)

I haven't found anywhere relating to 'South' anywhere in relation to 'of Pitcairn(s)' but may have been the Ministers' own wording in relation to the position of wherever in Pitcairn(s) it was?
