Does anyone have any info on Neil & Agness (nee Brogan) Glachan.

They both lived in Erskine 1851. They migrated there from Ireland.

I am trying to find out where they came from in ireland so that i can learn more about them.

I have a census from 1851 and know their whereabouts afyer that.

A copy of their respective death certs will give you their parents names and mothers maiden names but not where they were born

You don't say when they were born - 1851 census shows Neil born 1814 and Agnes 1826

Their son Charles(Glacken) was born 1855 , have you looked at his birth certificate to see if it gives any extra information ?

Any 1855 record is a wealth of useful info. which is not on any other certs. as 1855 was the beginning of Statutory Records & worth a view as it will state how many other children were born/died too as well as birth place of parents.

Thanks everyone. I have Neil Glachans death cert. His son Charles is on it. No mention of anyone else. His wife Agnes died young but I can't seem to find her death record.

My research so far in Ireland has been unsuccessful. I am trying to change the name glachan in my searches to see if that will help.

Have you looked at the 1855 birth cert as suggested by Annie. If they married in Ireland, could well provide you with a clue as to where they were from.

Neil was 37 in 1851...

Would his date of birth still be on 1855 birth cert?
