In 1933 when Hugh Joseph Clarke married Julia Monaghan, at Saltcoats, the witnesses were given as Charles Dorrian and Rita Monaghan, both of Ardrossan.....they themselves were married in 1936/37.....trying to establish if Rita (Margaret) Monaghan was Julia's sister.....

If you get the marriage for them on 1936 that will give you the parents names and you will be able to tell if they were sisters

Likely death for Margaret Dorrian/Monaghan in Saltcoats in 1974. Her mother's maiden name is showing as McGhee. Margaret's age at death is given as 66.

Maybe connected...

There is a death for an 88 year old Margaret McGee/Monaghan in 1966 in Ardrossan and Saltcoats...maybe Rita's mother?

There is a marriage for a Margaret Magee and Michael Monaghan in 1902 in Ardrossan Old...maybe Rita's parents?

What were the names of Julia's parents? Maybe father's were brothers?

Julia died young in 1940 in Ardrossan? Was she born in Ireland?

Hi Del80
www.ayrshire-roots.co.uk  . FYI: at the Intimation of their marriage, the bride is described as “Margaret (Rita) daughter of the late Michael/Mrs Monaghan, Ardrossan “. Further, as the Intimation was printed in the 01/01/1937 edition of the Ardrossan & Saltcoats Herald (A&SH) it is highly probable they were married in the latter part of December 1926.
From the same source, a male child (name unknown) was born late a July/early August 1938,

Death Intimation (A&SH 17 October 1969 Edition):
Michael Monaghan, died October 19 1936, husband of Margaret Monaghan and remembered by his son and daughter, Patrick and Janie, 34 Parkhouse Road, Ardrossan.
Note: There is evidence Michael had family abroad although no indication of location (Eire perhaps?)

Michael Monaghan and Margaret/Maggie Magee's marriage in 1902 shows in both the statutory and RC registers. To work back, best check statutory register entry first in order to confirm their parents names.
