Thanks for your replies.  His marriage date to Caroline of 1864 presents another puzzle.  His firstborn - a daughter, Eliza Hannah Dean Beckford was born in 1853.
His son William Thomas Skinner Beckford was born in 1866.

Do you have this certificate.  Often people did not marry until after children were born as one person was still 'married' .

Possible in 1861 as David Beckward age 59 bn Mitcham still boarding with Ann Tomlyn. Ann bn Eynsford, Kent. His occ Gate keeper & watchman - RG09/394 f118 p25

1841 also with Ann but her name is Tomlinson his is Bickford
HO107 /488 bk16 f5 p2.  His occ Seed Crusher, not bn in Kent.
