Where is Thomas Mahon gone ?
« on: Sunday 24 November 19 15:16 GMT (UK) »
Hi all,
I have a Thomas Mahon or Machon born 29 nov 1852 Preston Lancashire, his father Thomas passed away before he was born and his mother Eliza nee Morrison (born 1830 Ireland) remarried in Preston (feb 1853) to a Tailor Edward Gehan,(born 1827 Ireland) the last place I can find Thomas is in Manchester along with his mother and stepdad  (1861 census) if I could find a possible marriage then I would be able to send away for the cert to make certain.

His mother was still in Preston in 1871.  The 1861 shows Thomas as a boarder not as stepson

Thanks for the reply Carol, what search are you using when you find Eliza Gehan in Preston as I have tried Ancestry and Find my past but get nothing, thanks for the freebmd one looks very much like him.

I think I must have been dreaming - it's Edward Gehan in Preston but with a wife Mary.  Same Edward as 1861 - occ is same

Son Francis on 1861 died 1864 and Eliza in 1867

Edward remarried in Preston 1869 to Mary Welsh
