Tassell Family of Balsham

I am interested to know if anyone has established a family tree for these Tassells. They were prevalent 1450 to 1650 and I think they might link to my tree

Online trees are not always reliable - some are third-hand (or worse) copies of unproved trees.  Rather than look for an existing tree it might be more useful to rely on the "work back from the known" technique.

If you let us know the details of your earliest known ancestor in this line (proved by BMD registrations or parish registers) we can help with the search.

There are quite a few trees on Ancestry with e.g. Robert Tassell baptised 1565 Balsham.

Have you an Ancestry subscription and tried to contact the tree owners?

I have subs to F.M.P. if it helps, no refs before 1450 in Balsham.Margaret.

Go to FREEREG  if it helps, 1450 is a good way back, I thought 1540 was good.

Welcome to rootschat

Genuki indicates that Balsham PR's start at 1558 and are held at Cambridgeshire Archives.  FindMyPast transcripts start at that time but I cannot see any mention of the surname Tassell or variants.

It may be a good idea to tell us where you are stuck as trying to link your records in the 1800's directly to other records in the 1400's needs doing step by step.

When I searched the IGI batch numbers in Family Search for Balsham with Tassell/Tassall/Tassel, there are a lot from 1560 to 1605, but none after that.

Also one will (PCC), for William Tassell, of Balsham, yeoman, in 1575.
