Don't forget to check others on the same page as you may find relatives as I've done on numerous occasions.

Hi Annie,

Spent the day doing some research.  Am attaching Alexander and Agnes's marriage info.  No witnesses on marriage info??

Also trying to purchase marriage for Jane Smith McLaren and John Hamilton along with John Hamilton death info.  Interesting that his mother's maiden name is Dunlop.  My maiden name was Dunlop, although not blood!!   Unfortunately there appears to be a problem with me being able to make the purchase, have written to see what the problems is.

"(Add...What info. is on their marriage re witnesses/place names or anything else?)  Not sure who you are referring to here?"

The marriage of Alexander McLaren & Agnes Johnston (looking for any clues)

Regards
Barbara

It's always unfortunate when witnesses aren't recorded.

My only other suggestion is to hope sponsors were named on the Alyth baptisms for a clue?

Don't forget to scroll through the marriages for any names significant too.
I've often found other family members on parish pages which might compensate for the lack of info. otherwise.

Thanks Annie.  Yes, have been scrolling through the various records for other family.

This is an update on what I have found on John Hamilton, 1st husband of Jean/Jane Smith McLaren.

John Hamilton  parents:  John Hamilton and Mary Dunlop

b 12 May 1835 Dalserf, Lanarkshire, Scotland
d. 07 Dec 1873
53 Victoria St. Borough of Hotham, Melbourne
e.
Burial 09 Dec 1873
Melbourne General Cemetery Australia
John Hamilton had been in Victoria for a period of 10yrs when he died.

m.
  McLaren, Jean S.
12 Dec 1864
Collins St. Baptist Church, Melbourne.
Info from SP and Victoria BMD. Find a Grave.

The daughter of Isaac Johnston Cree and Jane Smith McLaren – Maggie Cree

b.
14 Jun 1886
Melbourne, Australia
d.
14 Jan 1877
Melbourne, West, Australia
e.
Burial
Jan 1877
Melbourne General Cemetery Australia  Buried in same plot as John Hamilton.

So another look at the family as Dunlop was my maiden name, just need to check to see if Mary is part of the Dunlop family I am aware of who arrived in NZ early 1860's.  And, so it goes on.  ;D

Thanks for all the help from members here.  Much appreciated.
