Louvain, Belgium (WWII)

Hello,

My grandfather was in Louvain, Belgium during WWII and became friends with a family there. I'd like to trace records locally. Does anyone have experience with Louvain genealogy / local archives?

Records such as birth/marriage/death from that period might be quite difficult to find, generally speaking for privacy reasons records less than 100 years old will not be available.

Louvain/Leuven does have a local city archives which may have things like local directories, however there does not seem to be much online from them.

If the family he knew had members who served in WWI, you may find them in the "Golden Book" - this was published in the 1930s and had names/pictures/information of veterans (not all veterans)
