They are in Heworth in 1841---

RG/HO 107/297/4

Dependant on where you are looking MAY have been transcribed as Hale - but on Ancestry as Hall.

John is aged 40 (rounded down) and Isabella 35 (rounded down.) He is a Collier.
Places of interest;
Lancashire, West Yorkshire, Southern Ireland, Scotland.

Pennines, I wonder if you could have a look for the Wharrier/Warrior/Etc family in 1851?  I have the 1861 census but have spent ages looking for 1851 but the name seems to be causing me some problems:

Name:   James Warrior
Age:   44
Estimated birth year:   1817
Relation:   Head
Spouse's name:   Jane Warrior
Gender:   Male
Where born:   Howden, Northumberland, England
Civil Parish:   Heworth
Ecclesiastical parish:   Heworth
County/Island:   Durham

Registration district:   Gateshead
Sub-registration district:   Heworth

Piece:   3798
Folio:   83
Page Number:   16
Household Members:
Name          Age
James Warrior   44
Jane Warrior   39
John Warrior   14
Jane Warrior   12
Elizabeth Warrior   10
Margaret Warrior   6
James Warrior   4
Geoe B Warrior   2

Regards

Ray

Hi RayDen,

In 1851 on Ancestry - they have been transcribed as Wasier I think. (Although on the census itself it is 'Warrier'.

Living in Lonbenton.

I am also tracing the Hall family from the north east & have often found them transcribed as Harle (due probably to the accent). They are entered on the returns as Harle.
Always worth a look.

I have also seen Hall recorded as Hole!! (Not this family - but others).

Often it is useful to search on a child's christian name and birth year, with a parent's christian name when you are struggling with a surname -- although you would think 'Hall' was a simple enough surname to be correct.

(However it would be boring if it went smoothly!)

Just pleased to have been of help Ray. I can understand the 'Warrior' being a bit of a nightmare.

Have you seen it's possible origins on the Surname database? ;-
