Hi everyone.
Thank-you for your lovely responses.  This is giving me lots of information for my ancestry family tree which will fill in many gaps.   The thing I’m struggling on is my dad and his siblings as there is nothing on the internet at all as he was born in 1928.  GRONI will only give me details on births which are over 100 years ago. My dad was a very private person so I virtually know nothing at all about his past and I am eager to learn about my heritage xxx

If you want to obtain birth details about your father and his siblings, you can get in touch with GRONI to get a search done. Contact details for ringing or e-mailing:

https://www.nidirect.gov.uk/contacts/contacts-az/general-register-office-northern-ireland

GRONI will charge a fee for their search time.

If you live in Northern Ireland, you can go in person to either GRONI or PRONI (both in Belfast). They are the only places where you can search recent records, right up to those registered yesterday.
