McDouall
« on: Friday 10 January 20 09:05 GMT (UK) »
Hello I am hoping for a little guidance
With my research

My great great grandfather Edward McDouall born 1794 father Edward McD and Elizabeth baptised 1794 St Mary's Marylebone.

This is where it gets a bit more difficult.

Think his mother was Elizabeth Long and Edward was born in Galloway - McDouall clan territory, Garthland, Freugh and Logan

Now anyone out there have any ideas of his parentage or how I would go about finding out?

Have been told that it could be Alexander, born in London, mother Elizabeth McWilliam

Alexander's father could be Col Andrew McDouall married to Margaret or Mary McWilliams

I am going to Dumfries in April to search, however if anyone has a lead for me to follow it would be appreciated.

My worry is that this Andrew is the infamous Lt Col with all his illegitimate children but he was married to someone else - eventually.

Any help gratefully received
Thanks :

I've posted this link because in the other thread you said that Lt Col Andrew Logan is one of the names you've been asked to look for.
