"Allemang's churchyard"
« on: Friday 10 January 20 23:14 GMT (UK) »
Not sure I am posting this on the right board  ???.

My 2nd g-grandfather died in Wellesley Township (Waterloo, Ontario) in 1869.  In his will, he asked to be buried in "Allemang's churchyard".
As I cannot find this cemetery, I am wondering if someone with access to Waterloo County Churches : A Research Guide to Churches Established Before 1900 by Rosemary Willard Ambrose would please check to see if this cemetery is listed there.
(My ancestor's name, by the way, is not at the Find a Grave site.)

Many thanks for any help.

https://www.wellesleyhistory.org/churches.html which is based on the Ambrose book.

Cemeteries were associated with churches.  Could the entry have simply meant where the Allemang's were buried?

https://www.wellesleyhistory.org can help you.  We might be able to help further if you toss us a carrot such as a surname.

Thank you so much for your reply and for the links.
The name I am looking for is Dr. Frederick William Delion.  He seems to have been born in Prussia around 1807.  Some references say he was a descendent of Huguenots, but I have no precise information about that.

Allemagne is the French word for Germany.  Your ancestor was possibly born in Prussia so may have had some German background. Is there a German graveyard in the Waterloo area?

He is in the 1851 Census in Waterloo with his bride and children which you can see here:

https://www.bac-lac.gc.ca/eng/census/1851/Pages/1851.aspx

There is a Frederick at St. Peter's Lutheran in Kitchener.  http://ocfa.islandnet.com/ocfa-search.php

Btw...Kitchener was formerly called Berlin and the name was changed in 1916.

As an MD, I suspect there is further information about him in the https://waterloo.ogs.on.ca
