LadyM

I've re-read your request again.  I see that you seem to have the history. What exactly are you wanting about it?

Did you have Jebb ancestors?

It's definitely Plas Iva in all my books on Chirk.  We only knew it as Trevor House when I lived there. I'm what they call a 'Chirker'  We played around it   ;D

I have the history in the book I referred to.

I've been chasing "Plas Ifa, Trefor"?

Definitely not in Trefor.  Just read that there was also a place  Called Croes Iva in Weston Rhyn (in neighbouring parish of St Martins, Shropshire).

It was originally part of the Myddleton (Chirk Castle) Estate but they leased it  to the Trevors of Brynkinallt circa 17/18 century**. There would probably be quite a few refs to it in the Chirk Castle Estate papers (NLW).

It was the house that I first mentioned with the upholstery business in one of the outbuildings in the 1980s. My 1st cousin 1R, lived for a while in one of the little houses immediately to the east of it - called Trevor Row.  It stood/stands on the top of a steep south facing valley which descends down to the River Ceiriog. That part was called the 'Glen'.  In the Spring we used to gather primroses from the sunny top banks and, later, collected the watercress from a boggy place near the river.

** it was at this time that it became known as Trevor House.

Thank you for your reply.
I think this is a Quaker house actually in Trevor, rather than in Chirk.

Yes...this link is the one..It is just next door to the vicarage.....wonder what is the exact date of the map?
My nephew has just bought the property so I am trying to get to grips with its history.
The house has clearly been reconfigured many times, so it is going to be a marathon task!
Many thanks for your help thus far

You should have the scans by now  :)

The NLW would probably have the very early history. First mentions were 1538 and 1660
