Rome, or London?
« on: Sunday 12 January 20 14:24 GMT (UK) »
Hope this query is allowed, if not please advise.

My cousin died in Italy in December just gone.  I need to find her birth record.  We thought she may have been born in London, but my enquiry on BMD doesn't show it.  Its possible she was born in Rome.

Can you help me find her record?  I have her birth and death dates.

thank you very much.

Why do you need her birth certificate?  Was she married?

If she was born in England or Wales you should be able to find the registration on www.freebmd.org.uk.  It will also show her mothers maiden name against the entry so you know you have the correct one

If she was born in Scotland you will need to look on www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk

If she was born in Italy & died there the authorities dealing with her death should be able to trace her birth details for you

If she was born in England or Wales, then FreeBMD has complete registrations up to 1983, but with a small gap for September quarter 1982.
Transcriptions and NBI are merely finding aids.  They are NOT a substitute for original record entries.

Hello

I realised that, as my relative was born late in the year it could have been registered the first quarter of the following year, and up it came!  Registered in England, as we thought.

So topic finished.  Thanks for your assistance, once again .....
Best regards.
