Missing father
« on: Tuesday 14 January 20 03:14 GMT (UK) »
1939 Register, looking for location of Lawrance Edward Nichols age 13 and {Private} Nichols age 9. My father and aunt. Having found my grandfather Alfred George Nichols in Shipley Yorkshire with Peter Alfred Nichols ( my fathers step brother), and grandmother Agnes Evelyn Nichols (Kidd) in Scarborough Yorkshire with William M. Kidd her father,  plus one other possibly her mother. Tried looking on the 1939 Register but not there, is it because of their age?

I would say the blocked entry with Agnes Evelyn is a child.
Her father William is recorded as Widowed so it is not Mrs Kidd.

If either your aunt or father are still alive, or if they are deceased but died outside England, then they will still be redacted.
Perhaps it is your Aunt in Scarborough and your father is at school somewhere?

Thanks Mckha489, Depends when the Register was started/finished, I have Elizabeth (Lawrance) Kidd died 28th September 1939. That's from Elizabeth Kidd probate 28 October record. My Aunt is still alive, not sure about the school option for my father.

29 Sept 1939 is likely the date for the 1939 initial sets of info.

ADD

That is the date that The National Archives website provides,  along with many other details about that register.

I am on e reader, cannot do live links, sorry.

Thanks Girl Guide, viewed it this afternoon. It would appear Elizabeth Kidd died the day prior to the register.....

Oh that was unfortunate.  Is your father still alive?  If he is he won't appear on the 1939.

Well, always worth a try.  It is amazing what elderly people can remember of their past.  My husband will come out will all sorts of things he remembers from when he was young.
