In 1881 this Ruth’s POB is given as Oldland Common, Oldland and Bitton are very close together.
I think I may have to order this marriage certificate as well...

For anyone interested in Bitton/Oldland family and local history, there is a Bitton History Group website. The village is about 6 miles from both Bristol and Bath, in South Gloucestershire. There is also a Facebook group called Hanham, Longwell Green, Oldland and Bitton memories which includes old photos of the area, reference to items found in newspapers and archives, more about Ellacombe and the vicarage, and also felt hat making in the area. Kingswood Heritage Museum is another source, as are Gloucester and Bristol Archives, and occasionally records in Somerset Archives as area came under Keynsham Union workhouse at one stage.
