What became of Joseph Wilding Clarke?
« on: Wednesday 15 January 20 16:28 GMT (UK) »
Hello,

I’m looking for the life of Joseph. He appears to have been born in Burnham-on-Crouch in Essex in about 1830. I can only see him on the 1851 Census in St. Giles London, and when he died in 1900 in Kettering, Northamptonshire. He was buried at London Road Cemetery.

There were lots of children born Forename Clarke Wilding, but went by Forename Wilding Clarke. They were the children of Joseph Clarke and Maria Wilding. I’d love to know where he was between 1851 and 1900, if he ever married etc.

I’d appreciate any help!

I don’t have it yet, only sent off for it today :(

There were other Wilding Clarkes in Kettering in 1901, his brother David was there too. He was joined by a niece in 1911, and another niece joined by 1939.

Joseph appears to have been a hairdresser, so I’ve found him in 1871 too.

You will find him as a 'haircutter' in 1881 living in Finsbury. As in 1871 he is a widower.

I saw two entries! So he must’ve been between houses that day?

Excellent! If he married, that would give his father’s name, and could confirm his relation to David Wilding Clarke in Kettering.
