Ciderdrinker,
That is fantastic stuff that you've done there, you had me worried at first with no Betsy, as she was the most prolific writer in the bible!  Your work has filled the line between me and William b-1838, so I shall share the details with the various family members who have assisted and contributed.
Many thanks again,

Thank you ,last possible clue
Looking at clues from William and Isabel's marriage at Glenbevie /Kinneff and assuming it is his parish.
There is another Black couple marrying there
Robert Black and Jessie Young in 1842.
He is from Fettycairns in the parish of Laurencekirk on the censuses

Also there is a William Black born 10.7.1809 bapt 16.7.1809 s of George Black and Jean Watson.
Sister Jean 6.4.1817 .
It would make William 23 when he married

Just a thought
Have a nice weekend

Ciderdrinker,
Re William BLACK, b-1838, he married Mary HOSEA (b-1846 Marykirk) in 1872 at Seaton of Usan, whilst he was a ploughman at Lochside, Montrose and she was a Domestic Servant at Seaton of Usan, he gave his age as 32 at that time?

William went on to have a family of six children, that you identified earlier, though the eldest, (William b-1867), was born five years before his mother married William in 1872.

Mary died aged 39yrs in 1887 whilst at East Balhagarty Farm, Garvock, no mention in the bible of him remarrying, he would have been knocking on in age by then, especially for those times!

Where's the family tree that you refer to ?  I could probably add a lot of later stuff in particular to it ?

regards,

Hello
The family tree is on Ancestry. There are 3 but ,one has no wife for him and the others have only the two youngest children and Margaret K Davidson.
One is connected from the Napier Family -Anne Napier born 1864 ,one has lots of photos but i can't spot the connection and the third is again the Napier family

But on the 1901 census he is definitely at Roadside Largie Kincardinshire

William Black 63 General lab Benholm
Margaret K Black wife 52 born Kinneff
Isabella Black 21 daughter general servant Kinneff
Nellie 8 daughter Kinneff

Isabella and John Black are with their granny on the 1891 census at Kinneff ,probably because their mother has died.

Isabella 82 housekeeper Kinneff
John 13 grandson scholar Kinneff
Isabella 11 granddaughter scholar Kinneff

Nellie wouldn't have been born yet.To be honest Margaret looks very old to be her mother.

His new wife Margaret K  Davidson is a shirt maker age 42 at Kinneff on the 1891 so they have not yet married. She has a temporary lodger which may be him but no other info given .Her address is Roadside Kinneff.

Scots people is still down so I can't check possible registrations of his marriage or Nellie's birth
But it certainly seems to be him on the 1901 .

Ciderdrinker,
That's interesting, as there is no mention (by Betsy, in the bible) of her brother getting married again or any mention of Margaret Davidson or Nellie.
Strange, as you find them living at Roadside Largie, probably in the house Grandma Isabella had been living in, with Isabella and John, yet Betsy clearly lives in a house/cottage at Roadside Largie, as well, with her husband William GIBSON, and she is a dressmaker as well !
As you highlight, William and Margaret seem past their peak for having another child, perhaps it's some other relatives child ?

Great work you've done on this for me, very grateful,
