Not sure on 1891 but there is this in 1901:

Jessie Smith 50
Harietta I Mathieson 52
Adam Cruickshank 14 boarder jute spinner b. Aberdeen
Robert B Scott 9 Months boarder b. Aberdeen

Address: 2 Causey Place St Nicholas, Aberdeen

I think this may be the same family in 1891:

Address: 2 Causeway Place, St Nicholas, Aberdeen

David Smith 45, iron moulder b. Arbroath
Jessie Smith 41, wife, b. Inverurie
Harretta Smith 7, daughter b. Aberdeen
Adam Smith 4, son b. Aberdeen

I wonder if Adam Smith in 1991 is Adam Cruickshank in 1901? Also wonder if Harretta Smith in 1991 is Harietta I Mathieson in 1901, and the age has been miss-transcribed...?

In 1881 David Smith is an iron moulder - spot on for Adam’s marriage cert.

David Smith 30 b Arbroath
Jessie 30 b Iverurie

In lodgings in Aberdeen.  ED 63 page 8 line 25

Wonder if Adam was illegitimate and “adopted” by the Smiths

Quite possible Carol & on the 1901 Census there is a baby of 9 months Robert B Scott that is a border in the household, so perhaps they fostered children ?

At least the mystery will be solved when SP is up and running again on Tuesday but it looks like he was with the Smith's for some time and gave David Smiths christian name and occupation as that of his father when he married

One of the searches for SP is to check what Jessie's, wife of David Smith, maiden name was... ::)

Never mind a birth entry for an Adam Cruickshank in 1885 (maybe 1886 if birth not registered till January 1886).

If the 1861 entry is correct - Adam could have been the son of one of the Fullerton girls.  David & Jessie were married before 1881 so if he was their son he would have been registered as Smith

Not having any luck finding the Fullertons in 1851 or David Cruickshank as I assume he was previously married and Jessie was from the earlier marriage
