Confused! My 5xGt.Grandfather, Thomas Johnson, born August 1741 (Farnworth, Widnes) married Mary Ireland on Feb 3rd, 1762 at St. Helens Parish Church. Is this a Mary Ireland, born 1742 in Childwall, or Mary Ireland, born 1739 in Gt. Sankey, Warrington? Help, please.

realistically could be any of these except 1737 - which is the same couple for the 1740 baptism - so the 1737 Mary obviously died

5 miles by road now - but 280 years ago across land - probably 3-4 miles

Thanks for your reply and information. Turns out I had been put on the wrong track in the first place, and should have been looking for a Mary Whitfield! Sorted now!
