Alfred's death cert in Barrow, 1919 might shed some light.

The tree on Familysearch is not correct.

I have traced the James Turner & his sons on that tree, but Alfred never appears in any census & James' occupation was Bookeeper/cashier, not a farmer.

Alfred's wife, Ellen's part of the tree appears to be correct. She was born in Rowley Regis, Staffs.

Addition--- Who were the witnesses on Alfred's marriage in 1872?
I have Alfred's death certificate. I don't think there's anything on there that will help. What did you have in mind?

I have faith in Ellen's part of the tree. I have so many DNA matches to her mother's Shakespear side as some members of the family went to Utah and joined the LDS Church.

Addition--- The witnesses on their marriage certificate were Patience Cornthwaite (Ellen's sister, who married Michael Cornthwaite) and William Faylor, who signed with his mark. I don't know who this is, and I don't know if it should actually be Taylor without the extra pen stroke.

Hi
Crossing fingers that the 1845 marriage James Turner and Ann Almond is right and it does look it.

Robert George Turner birth reg Preston Sep 1847 mother's maiden name Almond Vol 21 page 570.
There is a possible brother James at Blackburn Sep 1853 mdn Almond vol 8E 237

Still no sign of Alfred or Joseph 's births.

Did cousin George change his occupation?

The 1901 census has him as a Drayman (Brewers) & 1911 as a PC.

Might there be any documents that Joseph signed before 1872 to compare with Alfred's on marriage certificate & 1911 census? ADDED- he didn't sign 1911 as he was crew!

Can we hazard a guess for date of the pic? Joseph looks more than 3 years younger than George to me ???
