The Family Bible mentions
"James McLachlan a Cooper to trade and a tenant in Bateston. His only son James succeeded his father in Bateston and was a sometime carrier to Glasgow".
So Bailieston is a possibility but My father was Paisley born and never mentioned Bateston and Baillieston being the same place

Have you found James on any census record at all?  Or was he born too early for census records?

I am talking 18th century so no luck with a census
