If you haven't already ordered the marriage cert, given you have a date and a church, ordering a copy from the parish register via Durham Record Office 'quick search' facility would cost £5 (much less than a GRO cert) and they email a scan to you usually within 24 hours, so its quicker too.

OOPS! sorry the date and church were for the possible previous generation

I am coming late to this thread .. if you are not in a desperate hurry and can wait up to a few weeks I will go and look up the Sarah Job marriage for you since Rosie has kindly supplied the Church and date. :)  This could save you having to fork out if I am not too late to offer?

I could also have a stab at finding the Edward Ward marriage.  Are there any suggestions for the likeliest Churches to look at?  Do you think St Thomas might be a contender?

That is great Rosie that you have found the Church and date for this one too.

I have looked on the Margaret Hall website though on the Tyne and Wear User Guides - I can't see this Church listed under Fulwell or Sunderland.  Am I going wrong somewhere?

I think I have found it under Monkwearmouth, Roker.

Thanks Rosie, this is very helpful .. if it is not too late aidansrest and you can hold on for up to a few weeks I will go and look these marriages up for you for free.  You can put your purse away.  ;D

I’ve found this Durham Records Office place name index is the best site to consult as it gives the relevant parishes at any given date.

Fulwell was in the parish of Monkwearmouth St Peter until 1847, and Monkwearmouth All Saints thereafter (which is the one Rosie mentioned in reply#23).
