Leominster near Fincham ?
« on: Wednesday 29 January 20 10:33 GMT (UK) »
One of the people on my tree was buried at Fincham, and so far as I can tell spent her entire life in Norfolk.

The burial record says her abode was Leominster. (see Harriet FLOOD died 1896 in FamilySearch)

It is written quite clearly. However I cannot find any place name resembling Leominster near Fincham.

Her husband had been proprietor of the Crown in Fincham for many years, but predeceased her by more than a decade.

Is there a nursing home named Leominster in or near Fincham?

Does anyone have some local knowledge? (I live in Melbourne, Australia)

Is it a possibility she moved away to Leominster, died there and was buried in a family grave in Fincham, just a thought

She was in Fincham in 1891, living with her brother in law.

The Death Certificate may give you an address.

Yes, she was living on her own means with her married sister Jane.

Looking at her will it sounds very much to me like some sort of nursing home, there is  Priory in Leominster, her death cert will reveal more information and who registered her death

John, her husband died in 1882 and is buried in Fincham

So she did in fact die in Leominster. How unusual!

Looks like she was living at a convent - it says Priory. I wonder why she chose that one?

They got her body to Norfolk very quickly! she was buried the very next day.

Thanks for all your help :)

I think you will find that The Priory is the name of a road in Leominster.

True - but I've worked out who she gave her money to, and it turns out she had other close relatives who had moved to the area at some point. So the mystery is solved at last :)

“The priory” in Leominster was and still is, part of an ancient complex which at that time also included the workhouse and an infirmary
