Thankyou both
So the information I have from ancestry could be wrong??
How do I find their graves???
I really would like to find them to pay my respects

What information from Ancestry are you relying on?  From a tree made by someone else?

This may be Christopher's death as Mckha said - if you buy the death certificate you will be able to check who notified the death and see an address which would confirm if it is your grandfather or not.

In terms of finding their deaths and possible burial places,
I think he was born in 1890
If so, this is probably his death

Deaths Mar 1952   (>99%)
SMITH    Christopher    62    Darlington    1a   230

Unfortunately, as you will already have realised, it's hard researching anyone with the name Smith.  :(

All the hours spent on ancestry, could be wasted?
Any help in finding where they laid to rest would be appreciated
Thankyou again

Hours on Ancestry are not wasted, but you still have to start at the beginning and absolutely verify each step back, not  to leap a step and accept someone else’s findings which may be correct, but also may be wrong as Ancestry throws hints which some people accept as true but are ONLY HINTS.

Interestingly I can't see a Christopher Smith born in the correct quarter of 1890 anywhere in the UK

If I were you, Barbie, I would order that death certificate that Mckha found from the GRO website.

If it is the right one, then it could give you a clue to the exact Darlington address where your grandfather died, and from that potentially one or more cemeteries to enquire at.

I started a family tree on ancestry, after my dad died in October 2019,
I entered all family that I knew, like his brothers and sisters,
I entered my brothers and sisters
Asked a family member what my nana and grandad were called
It went from there, I asked darlington borough council for there help in tracing my nana and grandad, then I found Mary Ellen Smith death 1980 for Cleveland which could be middlesbrough Stockton and thornaby, so spent hrs on phone, but if Mary Ellen died in Cleveland she died in 1977,
But I have her as 1980,

As an example, Elizabeth Shipton had a brother Jack, and they were all in the same household in 1911, so the Ancestry algorithms or a researcher may well have assumed Mary Ellen is the daughter of a male Shipton adult in the house, even though he is single

Ok, let me just check.
You found a reference for a Mary Ellen Smith death in 1980 in Cleveland
This one, which has the same dob as the 1939 Register

Mary Ellen Smith
Age:   80
Birth Date:   15 Jun 1899

Reg Quarter:   Apr-May-Jun
district:   Cleveland
County:   Cleveland
Volume:   3
Page:   2507

Which certainly looks possible.  I'm not clear where the 1977 death date comes from?  If the GRO register has it in 1980, then that will be when it was.

Did you buy the death cert to see where Mary Ellen died, and who notified the death?  Because as I mentioned, that might give you an idea of a local cemetery.

And of course, if you know where Christopher was buried after researching that with the death mentioned earlier, it's also possible that Mary Ellen was buried in the same grave?

Added:  you can register your name free on the GRO site, and order a certificate from them via their site.
