POW in British Captivity

My friend who doesn't speak English tries to research his late father WW2 story.

His father Karol Zagóra was a Silesian Pole and as many from this area (incorporated into nazi Germany) was conscripted to Wermacht. Supposedly in Wermacht he was part of the armored train crew. Apparently Karol was captured by the Soviets but he managed to escape. Than he was captured by the British forces. How and where it is unknown. After WW2 he returned Poland.
Are there any British archives of the captured Wermacht POW's? Where to start?

National Archives do not hold records of PoWs in British hands. Try the ICRC website, although they are refusing all requests until May 2020 because their in-trays are full.
