The Dictionary says it is meant to be a corruption of Casa de Saltar explained as "house of dancers" where British soldiers betook themselves during the Peninsular War, it is this which it says is  totally meaningless in Spanish, although saltarina is a dancer.

I have found 4 generations of my family (Hanks) that where associated with above pub in Algarkirk Boston between 1872 and 1913.

Hi Worth, Sadly I haven't been able to track down a photo, but this newspaper article gives an interesting insight into the Hanks family.  It seems your family have been associated with the Case is Altered for longer than you thought.
