Samuel Campbell, Belstead and Martlesham
« on: Friday 07 February 20 14:56 GMT (UK) »
Looking for information of the family of Samuel Campbell and his wife Ellen Pemberton (daughter of William and Harriet Pemberton) who were married in the Parish Church of Samford in Suffolk in 1872.
In the 1881 census they are living at Martlesham where Samuel was a gamekeeper, in 1891 they appear in Ipswich where Samuel is a Foundry Labourer and by the 1901 census Samuel is again a gamekeeper but they have moved to Cirencester. Their family were -
Isabella born about 1874 in Belstead - last heard of in Hackney, London in 1911
George born about 1876 in Belstead - last heard of with his parents in 1891 in Ipswich
Christina born about 1878 in Norfolk
Helen born about 1880 in Martlesham - last heard of in 1891 in Ipswich with her parents
May born about 1882 in Martlesham - last heard of in Finchley, London with her husband George Hughes in 1911
Frank born about 1886 in Martlesham  - last heard of in 1901 with his parents in Cirencester
Maryann Flora born about 1889 in Statton - last heard of in 1891 living with her sister May in Finchley
Any information about this family would be much appreciated.

Christina Lucy Cambell with father Samuel gentleman marriage 24 Oct 1908 London to William Yeats Rhind.

The 1881 looks like Christina "L" so could be her.
Death for her in London 3 Jan 1960.

In fact address at time of marriage for her looks like Martlesham Long Lane so looking good plus one of the witness is Hughes  :D

1881 census shows Christina was born Perthshire - not Norfolk.  However - no birth on Scotlands People but nothing on freebmd either.  There is a tree on Ancestry which also shows her b Perth but that just may be copied from the census entry

George was George Angus Dec qtr 1875
Helen Emma Dec qtr 1880
Frank Charles March qtr 1886
May March qtr 1883
Mary Ann Flora Sept qtr 1888
Minna Dec qtr 1891

Just in case they chose their second names when they married or on censuses

I am wondering of parents emigrated after 1901 and some of the family followed at a later date

According to that tree - May died in Australia in 1966

Freebmd has a marriage in Melksham 1914 - Frank Charles Campbell to Ethel Bishop.  No other birth reg on freebmd for that name

EDIT - right marriage.  15.4.1914 father Samuel occ gamekeeper,
Frank was 28 occ farmer and Ethel was 29

www.rootschat.com/links/01p0c

Frank died sometime before the 1939 register was taken - see entry for Ethel in Melksham but the only Frank C death that fits was in Tamworth 1919 aged 33 -  nothing in Wiltshire.  No other birth for a Frank C Campbell 1884 - 1887
