Maydwell of Northamptonshire
« on: Friday 14 February 20 18:24 GMT (UK) »
Hello
I'm looking for more information on the Maydwell/Maidwell family of Ashley, Northamptonshire.

I have an Edward Maydwell, Gentleman, 1625 Ashley - 1698 Ashley, who marries an Elizabeth but I cannot find a marriage for him.
He has a mural in Ashley church.

I'm also not finding much on his father John Maydwell, Gent, either. John is married to an Alice but their marriage is also hard to track.

Any help appreciated

I have 53 Maydwell individuals in my database largely from the Cottingham and Middleton area (not far from Ashley) but none earlier than 1730

The Maydwell family around Northants seem to be the same family with different branches.
Various pedigrees are given in the Visitation of London 1634 and Visitation of Northamptonshire 1681.
The branch from Ashley also have land dealings in Carlton Curlieu, Leicestershire as do the Geddington/London branch.

The branches in Ashley, Geddington, Gretton, Middleton and London are all styled 'Gentleman' on various documents and church records relating to them, so they all retain high levels of social standing and wealth.
