« on: Wednesday 19 February 20 08:44 GMT (UK) »
Good Morning

I have no birth details for him. I have searched 1900s onwards but not knowing could be one of many
Only my Grandmothers Veronica Wright/Bradley (born 1st April 1922 deceased)
Married John Read (Sept 1938)

Then somewhere between  1942 until 1950 was with Jonathon/Jonathon Chapman and had 2 Children Patricia (OCT 1946 deceased) M****** (JUL 1949) born Saltburn

But then married George Garbutt (Sept 1950)
had 2 children G***** (DEC 1950) William (DEC 1950 deceased)

Thank you, if anyone experienced can shed any light on this i would be grateful.

Just adding in case it helps in the search for Jonathan

When Veronica Read/Bradley married George Garbutt in 1950 both of those surnames were on her certificate as shown by the GRO index

Marriage Sep qtr 1950
Bradley    Veronica
Read            Veronica
Garbutt    George R    (spouse Read)
Garbutt    George R    (spouse Bradley)
Cleveland reg district    1b   1591

Childrens birth registrations give mothers maiden surname as Bradley.

As there would be no marriage certificate for Veronicas relationship with Jonathan it will make him harder to trace.

What information can you give regarding the residence of John Read & Veronica.  Were they divorced or was she a widow

Thank-you for your reply,

As all the children of Veronica were young and  they were brought up knowing Garbutt until his death in 1979. Both children of Read died in their 40's in the late 1980's and had no contact with him.

All I know about Chapman was that he was a Iron stone miner. I have asked the remaining son of Chapman and he does not know any details.

Not too far from where you are researching, it may be worth further research
There is a marriage in Darlington reg district in 1939 to a Mary West.  Then possibly the same couple marrying again in Darlington reg district in 1939 as the GRO index shows two surnames for Mary both Chapman & West

Marriages Sep qtr 1950
Chapman    Jonathan    (spouse Chapman)
Chapman    Jonathan    (spouse West)
Chapman    Mary
West    Mary
Darlington reg dist
1a   648

Possible death
Deaths Dec 1980
Chapman    Jonathon    Birth 30 Sep 1914
Darlington reg dist    1   949

ADDED
Possible death for his wife
Mary Chapman
Born 22 December 1919
Death June qtr 1998
Darlington reg district

I am not allowed to give details from the 1939 register but Mary can be found with that date of birth. Sadly she did not marry until later that year but you will find her under her married name as the register was updated.

This may be his birth registration
Births Dec qtr 1914
Chapman    Jonathan    MMN Simpson
S. Shields    10a   1610

It is only a suggestion though, I hope that it will bring some answers for you. Maybe the marriage certificate would confirm his occupation.
