Lookup Request: Puke Ariki Archives, New Plymouth - Omata School Register
« on: Thursday 20 February 20 10:23 GMT (UK) »
Would anyone happening to visit this Library/Archive be able to do a lookup and photograph of school admission register for Eric Frederick BLACK, attended Omata School in 1920 (Grade Standard 3). This may have been his final year at the school and would be around 13 years old, birth date is 3 Aug 1907.

Wanting to find out when he started at this school and if it lists parents or guardian, or previous school attended as trying to work my way backwards to find industrial school/receiving home records. Eric absconded from unknown industrial school in 1916 and was living with his grandparents in Wellington age 8 before he was taken away by authorities. Apparently taken to Omata area and may have been living with foster family by name of BARNS?

Accession No: ARC2002-1047
Box 3, Item 10 - Omata School Admission Register 1900-1928

I also have a separate thread on this message board for this same child https://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php?topic=824324.0

Thank you

Request has been completed by Research Archivist at Puke Ariki, now with a lead back to previous school in Nelson.
