I suppose Brodripp must be an alternative spelling?

Here is a case in King's Bench, 1642 Hilary term:

Somerset. John Day & Dorothy his wife, née Dorothy Brodripp, versus Agnes Brodripp, widow, executrix of James Brodripp. Indebitatus Assumpsit: account with arrears of £30. (An undertaking to pay a debt, made at Taunton)

Still earlier, this is a case in Common Pleas, Hilary term 1528:

Wilts. John Rider versus John Brodrip alias Mason, of Kyngston Deverell, mason, for a debt of 46  shillings; and William Ratclyff, of Wanstrowe, Soms, clerk, for a horse worth 40 shillings.

I presume William was a Convict?

Looking at a Tree he names children Agnes Brodribb and Samson Richard Collier Brodribb

So maybe the Bapt for him with Mother Agnes is correct.

Hello Jo,

Thank you so much for the input on the Brodribb/Broadribb name, it had me totally confused with the spellings, especially when they were spelt the two different ways in the same family.

Yes, I do know spelling back then wasn't totally accurate, but back in the day one done the best they could regarding the situation in those times.

Than you again

Kind Regards

Cienna.
