Sarah Worrall

Looking for information re the origins of Sarah Worrall, convicted at Leicester January 1806 and transported to New South Wales for 7 years. 

Any help greatly appreciated.

Was Worrall her married or maiden name?

When was she born and was she born in Leics or just convicted there?

Did she remain in NSW or return to England?

If she is your ancestor - what other info do you have about her?

Hi Carole  -  To answer the questions - no idea!

I have a contact in Australia  and Sarah appears on his tree.  Unfortunately, at this period there is very little detail in the convict records.
So, in desperation, I posted the message in the hope that it could spur a response from someone who had maybe lost a Sarah Worrall -  but I'm not holding out much hope!
I think it will probably remain a brick wall for some time.

Several newspaper reports in late 1805 have a Sarah Worrall being sentenced for transportation for stealing in Salford (Lancashire)

Have you tried looking at Leicestershire newspapers

doesn't help with Sarah, but for interest, an item about the arrival of the Sydney Cove in June 1807

Nothing found at British Newspaper Archive - perhaps locally but I don't live near Leics.
I checked the Trove for the name but not the ship, so that is useful.
Sarah convicted 1805 Salford was also sentenced to transportation but can't find an entry in the transportation register at the moment.  Possibly pardoned or died before leaving but need to check.

BNA do not appear to have Leicestershire newspapers - Gale which I access through my local library don't have them that early for Leicester.
