Can't Upload An Image - Is it me

Hello All

I appear to be having problems uploading an extract from a census record.  I select the file in the browser box, but there doesn't appear to be anyway to upload from there.  Not having used the site before, I am unsure whether the image only appears once the post is made.  I've looked on preview but it isn't showing there either.  Am I doing something wrong, or is there a problem.

Hi

Images don't appear until they are  uploaded and they don't appear in preview.

Make sure your image is less than 500kb and has a unique name - ad your initals or date, etc. to make sure it's unique.

please do not press the preview button for images, it can cause problems !!  Better to post and modify your post if you have made any errors

What sort of file format is the image you are trying to upload ?

Thank you for your replies Gadget and Sarah - I will start afresh without using the preview.  If you get the post, but no image, I'll go back to the drawing board.

Yes, I did join a good while ago - I read the forums regularly and have to say I have picked up several good tips along the way.

Something else to remember - you are not able to add images to "Look Up Request" forums.

Hi Shelagh and welcome to RootsChat, if you try again to upload the image, you will need to rename the file, just add a number to it.

Hello.

As long as it is an image held on your computer that meets the acceptable format and under the 500kb size limit it should not be an issue, from my experience. Just a double click when you have found the image, via the BROUSE button.

Image attached of how I do it.

EDIT:- OOp's I see a typo in my over printed image.  PLEASE read 500 NOT 50 kb. Computer does not like my rapid typing.  - Alan.
