Extract from 1851 Census
« on: Wednesday 26 February 20 17:48 GMT (UK) »

Sorry, forgot to mention on my previous reply, document is saved as a JPeg.  Not a large file, just one line of a census.

Any suggestions for the Place name on this 1851 census record.

To me it looks like Rosendale, but some have suggested Rossendale.  I have also been advised that Rossendale used to be known as Rosendale, but I have no idea about this.  The problem is, there is a place in Yorkshire named Rosendale, so it's causing me a few problems.

All the children in this family were born in either Manchester/Salford, only this child seems to have been born outside the area.  I can't find any record of her at all, and I am having the same problem with her Father.

Any suggestions would be appreciated

If the 'Do' refers to Lancashire, it would be Rossendale.

To me it looks like Rosendale. As Gadget has said, if the 'do' refers to Lancashire, then it is most likely a mis-spelling of Rossendale
