Thank you for the addition info. I do believe were on the right track!! I may have to wait for the release of Maria Rachel  Annais Philippart's marriage certificate to see if there IS a link to Arthur? too prove it.

I still think we have a chance with the town hall in Nivelles. With Gilberte's birth date and place, they should be able to help someone who is Gilberte's daughter. Either we have the date slightly wrong, or the surname is spelled slightly differently, or she was registered under a different surname.

 I understand the 100 yr rule for general public, but surely the authorities have access ?  Unless as you say there is a discrepancy in the spelling or date.

We have gone back to them under my wife's request to see if they have details of her her marriage 1945/6
