Well done, Jessie. You certainly have your work cut out with this family  ::)

Did sister Emma Eliza marry a John Grieve in Newington in 1916? Death also in Newington in 1940 at the age of 74.

I would never in a month of Sundays have found her on the census .

Went to library to access Ancestry today as thought they might have been married in England

as Oldhamstocks  is only about twenty miles from the border no luck unfortunately.

You didn't need to do that. You could have looked it up without stirring from home.

The England and Wales birth, marriage and death indexes have been digitised by a small army of volunteers and the resulting index is available online free of charge at https://www.freebmd.org.uk/cgi/search.pl.

The index on Ancestry is a mirror of FreeBMD.
Never trust anything you find online (especially submitted trees and transcriptions on Ancestry, MyHeritage, FindMyPast and other commercial web sites) unless it's an image of an original document - and even then be wary because errors can and do occur.

Something to consider....

I haven't been able to find a marriage for them so far. From the entries for her in 1891 and 1901, she looks to be single in 1891 and showing as married to William by 1901.

It may be that William was already married and unable to marry Depisa? He was a good 10yrs+ older than her wasn't he? Have tried and failed so far to find William Henry Watson in earlier censuses in England.

Doh, re-reading this all. See that Jool had already found 1891 and 1901 earlier in replies #7 and 8  (sorry Jool ;) for not spotting this).
