Obit Samuel Lennox aka Samuel Derby Lennox, dod Oct 24, 1934, Bristol
« on: Sunday 15 March 20 00:10 GMT (UK) »
I believe that Samuel Lennox had a published obit, but I can't find one even though I have a subscription to British Newspaper Archives. Samuel was born in Aughrim, Co. Derry,  but was in England by 1871. I am hoping that his obit might name his parents whom I think are John Lennox and Margaret Marshall. Samuel married Amelia Jennings in England on Dec 10, 1874. She was from Bungay, Suffolk. I can't find their marriage either, to see name of fathers.
Thanks for any help

The marriage is on freebmd Dec qtr 1874 in Bristol.  He was Samuel Derby Lennox on the registration
www.freebmd.org.uk

Can't see any online transcription so you may have to buy the cert to get their fathers names

I can't see an obit for Samuel, though there is one for his wife Amelia. Western Daily Press, Wednesday,  May 1, 1929.

Also many articles about various prosecutions etc over the years, you may have already seen? An article from the Belfast News-Letter, Wednesday,  Jan. 25, 1888  mentions Samuel's mother as "Margaret Lennox". (Samuel is a draper, resident of Bristol, though with a farm and house in Aughrim.)

Modified to add:
Death and funeral notices for Samuel merely say "family".

Thank you CaroleW and maddys52. I will try to figure out how to order marriage. We know Samuel’s mother was Margaret so if his father is John, I think his parents are John Lennox and Margaret Marshall.
I did find Amelia’s obit. I did find article in 1888 and I did find at least three articles where SAMUEL was taking others to court over embezzlement, etc. Too bad for lack of information about Samuel’s death.I haven’t found any Notices as yet.

Thank you aghadowey and Capetown for all this wonderful information. I did have some of it but everything helps. I noticed that the witnesses for Mary's marriage in 1877 were Samuel Lennox and E. Lennox who I presume are her siblings who were on the 1871 census with her, in the Robert Stewart Household.
Unfortunately, the death info for Samuel on British Newspaper Archives are only death and funeral notices, not obits, and do not name any relatives. The obit for his wife Amelia was very informative and I am working on the people mentioned.
I have ordered the wills for both Samuel and Amelia, hoping for more info.
Thanks for the Jennings info. I am guessing William Jennings would have gone to NZ with daughter Anne B., since Amelia stayed in Bristol.
Thanks again for all this help
