Any ideas at all please
« on: Thursday 19 March 20 16:54 GMT (UK) »
Can anyone throw any light on this picture please ?
It was in a photo album belonging to my aunt.  None of the pictures in the album are dated.  My aunt died in 2010.
I am probably way off the mark but my thoughts are that the picture was taken overseas and could there be gold in the pouch she is holding.
Thank you

Any more clues please - - like where are you so we know where 'overseas' is?

For some reason that looks United States to me - but no idea why! just a feeling!  Is that overseas for you?
Also I would have guessed early 20th Century - 1915-25ish (could be way out there.)

What makes you think gold?

Sorry I am in England. I know there was emigration of prospectors for gold and it’s just a feeling that it could be that.

Is it  a freshly killed small rabbit?
She is clasping its legs and its head is towards her.
The curve of its back can be seen.

Do I imagine it, or is her skirt made of pieces of hide?
The stitching looks like the kind used on leather and the pieces are irregular.

It is sort of stiff-looking.

I don’t think the rabbit is dead, I think she’s holding it firmly by the ears.

I agree re skirt made from sections of hide
