Hugh Morris

I am looking for a death for a man called Hugh Morris. He was born in Clones Monaghan Ireland in 1891 and I believe from family that he was in Scotland (most Likely) and died there in the 1960's. I really know no more than that. He had a wife and children back in Belfast. His death is was probably after 1962 and I am searching for a family member who is very keen to get a death certificate. Any help is most gratefully received, I have looked everywhere that I have access to. Thank you

Have you checked www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk as that is the only site where that type of info for that period will be found

Only one entry on SP - died 1969 Glasgow  aged 78.  As the death was (just) more than 50yrs ago you will be able to download it by buying credits to check if it's the right person.  Parents names are shown on Scottish death certs plus mothers maiden name.  However - that info is dependant on who reported the death and what they knew about the deceased

There is one in 1970 in Troon aged 81 but he was Hugh Jones Morris.  Fingers crossed the 1969 one is yours

I have another query if you are still there Carol - Patrick Morris married a woman called Mary McGarvey I believe in Glasgow in 1906? She was a widow and had two children - Kathleen & Lottie presumably McGarvey. Then they had a son together called Francis in 1906 - they went to america around 1929. My query is over the births of the two girls and who was Mary married to before. I have births for them but one clashes with Francis, Lottie in 1906 and Kathleen in 1905 but Francis was born in 1906? Any ideas?

Look the family up in the 1911 census at www.scotlandspeople and see what it tells you.

Patrick Morris married Mary McGarvey or Buntain in Greenock East in 1906. Francis Morris was born in Greenock in 1906.

Mary Alice McGarvey married William Buntain in Greenock West in 1896. So her children by her first marriage would surely be Buntains, not McGarveys? Catherine Buntain was born in Greenock in 1898, and Charlotte Allan Buntain in 1902.

I suggest that you have a look at both marriage certificates and all three birth certificates.

Hello thank you for that - the children were Kathleen b: 9 Oct 1905 and Lottie 9 May 1906 but I will look at the census - it was Greenock a brother mentioned Patrick was there on an army record. I didn't think she was ever a Charlotte or had a second name and 4 years seems lot to be out by. She married as a McGarvey so I am a bit confused now. Thank you
