Hello thank you for that - the children were Kathleen b: 9 Oct 1905 and Lottie 9 May 1906 but I will look at the census - it was Greenock a brother mentioned Patrick was there on an army record. I didn't think she was ever a Charlotte or had a second name and 4 years seems lot to be out by. She married as a McGarvey so I am a bit confused now.
Were Kathleen and Lottie born in Scotland? And what surname was on their birth certificates?

I don't have the certificates, these are dates taken from their travels to the USA and on 1940 census there in NY. They may well be the dates you found but they do seem quite far out, I haven't looked at this family for some time and only learnt that the first two children were from a previous marriage recently. I need to look at it again and find out if they married as Morris' or Buntain, they should have been Buntain unless Patrick adopted which I sort of doubt, it would have cost money. I also have/had contact with a granddaughter but am not sure if she is aware of the first marriage as it's never been discussed. It was mentioned by someone who knew of the family in Glasgow but no longer with us. I realised the date for Lottie and Frank clashed but like I said I had been distracted by other parts of my tree. :)  :)

Name
Lottie Lennon
Birth
09/05/1902
Death
10/08/1993
Residence
Before 1951 New York

Kathleen Kenny
Birth
09/10/1905
Death
Pinellas Florida United States 10/07/1985

I looked at the death which is where I believed I got the information from and as you can see I made an error in the year for Lottie, so it does now make sense, I believe they married as Morris' which is why I never questioned their birth so perhaps Patrick did officially adopt them. Thank you  :)  :)

There was no formal adoption in Scotland until 1930. They could have been known by his surname, but there could not have been any legal proceedings or 'official' adoption or costs.

I think if there is a conflict between travel documents, census and statutory registers, the statutory registers would win. Please do look at those original certificates.

Wow thank you - I am looking at this family again and did pick up that William died in 1903 so Kathleen b: 1905 (as she calls herself) couldn't be his child but do you think could pass for Catherine born in 1898? Are you able to see her on 1911 census I don't have access but Charlotte (Lottie) and Catherine (Kathleen) should be on there somewhere. I wonder if there is another child called Catherine who stayed in Scotland and never went to America with them but they would know about her. I guess it might just be that she deliberately gave the wrong dates 7 years is a lot but I've seen worse or better as the case may be. Much appreciated.  :)  :)
