Death in 1839, not found.
« on: Sunday 29 March 20 19:25 BST (UK) »
Poplar House  overlooks Salisbury Road which had not been developed during 1817-24.It is referred to as Poplar Cottage in the 1833 survey. There is evidence to suggest that the property was split into two occupancies very early in its history and as the Revd J. Tussell, schoolmaster,is known to have died here in 1839,it may have been a house located above a schoolroom. Courtesy of Alistair Williams.

I found this information on another website, but I'm not finding a death registration in 1839 / 1840 for anyone named Tussell,   or similar in Wrexham.  In fact I'm not even finding the name in that time. This is Poplar House, Madeira Hill, Wrexham.
Can anyone shed any light on this please.

The North Wales Chronicle, 29 Jan 1839, has the death notice of the Rev James Fussell, Wesleyan Minister.

Thanks a lot , that's probably him, but I'm not going to find in parish burials if he was non conformist.   :)

Its a start though.  I'm hoping to do a " house history " on Poplar Cottage/ House which is still standing.

Sorry about the link. It's page 158.

There's quite a bit on him here, but no mention of him as a school master, also he had been ill for a long time.
No confirmation he died or was at Poplar House though.
Thanks.

The Welsh language periodical, "Eurgrawn Weslyaidd" (1 Nov 1839, 1 Sep 1849) describes his entering the ministry 1806 but forced to finish through ill health in 1822. He opened a reputable Boarding School (Ysgol Fyrddiol) in Wrexham. Highly thought of.

Appears in some listings as "James Fussell, Uwchrif" (Supernumary or retired Wesleyan Minister) eg.-
