How have you accessed this image of the birth certificate?

Further to Census 1911...Miss BARNES / Miss HUTCHINGS.....I do not think that a heavily pregnant woman would identify herself to the Census recorder...or anyone else as "Miss"...whatever her marital status might be.

Ronald BARNES, born 1912, and second given name Richardson seen to suggest that adoption was already arranged....I do not think the RICHARDSON adoptive parents would wait until 1914 to have him christened.

Only six months to wait for the 1921 Census which might give more clues.

Just as a matter of interest I took a pic of the original image of the 1911 census for Hutchings.  I have cropped it to show the A and the L for comparison purposes with the image that jon has provided.

Wivenhoe - As far as I am aware the 1921 census will not be available until 2022 unless it is released early.

Here is Evelyn's birth certificate. It looks like there is no signature of the mother, but the name of the birth certificate is Annie BARNES, instead of Annie Laura BARNES. Is this significant?

I wouldn't attach too much significance to the lack of Laura.

Everything else matches apart from the father, Evelyn has Richard Knight Barnes in 1911 and Ronald has Ronald Richardson Barnes in 1912.

What to infer from that?  Either the same father who changed his name for Ronald's birth or two different men.

Might want to see if you can find any birth registration for a Richard Knight Barnes.
