Please Help Me Find Robert Young
« on: Sunday 05 April 20 18:01 BST (UK) »
My ancestors are Robert Young and Mary Ann Fox 1819-1902. I have found no evidence of them ever marrying. They had two daughters, Mary Ann 1844-1924 and Eliza Emma 1846-1919. All three women were born in Limehouse, Middlesex.

Mary Ann Fox was single and living with her mother in 1841. In the 1851 census She had the two girls and was surnamed Young. She was described as a widow. She never missed a census and was always described the same way.

When the first girl was born the cert gives Robert as a “Pile Worker”. Her marriage cert of July 1866 has him as a “Comb Maker”.

Eliza’s birth does not appear to have been registered. Her marriage cert of Oct 1866 lists her father as deceased.

I have found no record of either girl being Christened.

I have looked for a likely death for Robert based on it being prior to Eliza’s birth and also from between their weddings. I have found nothing likely on Ancestry, Free BMD or a Newspaper archive.
This brick wall is many years old now, I would so love to find out who he was. Any ideas or help would be very welcome.

Hello amondg. This is very interesting. As far as I can see, this marriage is not on Ancestry or Family Search. I have had a quick look around and have not yet found a Reuben and Ann in the Middlesex area. Nor a likely death record. So did they move on or revert to their regular names?

The first baby and the marriage in the first quarter of 1844. I think I must get this marriage cert.
Thank you so much.

Have you found any possible Robert Young in 1841 as we can be sure he was alive then?

Can you be sure that Robert even existed?

There’s a possible death.  Maybe he died in the London Hospital.

No I have not. To be honest, unless I find a Robert Young, Pile Worker, living in Limehouse, anything is equally possible or suspect.

There's a Robert Young age 20 in Whitechapel in 1841 born Scotland which likely is the 1846 death.
