My daughter contacted the Dr today,he won’t budge as it is a Govetnment Directive.

Viktoria, I wonder if it's possible for you or your daughter to find the actual government directive online? The reason I ask is because a few years ago the nurse at my GP surgery was reluctant to give me the flu jab as she said I hadn't been diagnosed as asthmatic. I pointed out to her that the doctor had been prescribing inhalers to me for umpteen years and although she said it didn't say in the actual words on my notes that I was asthmatic, she did agree to give me it. She was referring to the guidance that they receive. I was so annoyed that when I came home I looked for and found it online and it didn't actually say what she was reading it to mean. And as soon as I contacted the doctor about it he added the diagnosis to my notes.

Some documents are open to the interpretation of the reader and if you can gain access to it, it might give some clarification. Good luck.

PAS have this on their website though it does not appear to mention government directive

Hi Viktoria

The latest news on the PAS website that Rosie99 referred to says that the Guidelines were changed on 24th April:

https://pernicious-anaemia-society.org/pernicious-anaemia/bsh-guidance-on-b12-changed/

Surgeries can give the injections needed.

Many thanks to everyone .
I have forwarded the article to my daughter.
She also has compromised Folic  Acid levels which doesn’t help.
I wonder if the sub lingual lozenges would also help as the membrane under the tongue can absorb B12 whilst the stomach can’t because there is no intrinsic factor with  Pernicious  Anaemia.
I am truly grateful, Thankyou everyone who has given such good advice.
I am now wondering why her Drs, Surgery has not  contacted her as surely they will have been notified and the change was in April .
My info cane frim Tge Pernicious Anaemia Society page  where  it says it was a  Government  directive, more for protection of those giving the injections than to protect patients from Covid 19.
I willlet you know what transpires.
Viktoria.

P.S,I can’t find the original article by P.A.S.where it stated  it was a Government Directive ,but it has perhaps been removed as there seems to have been a turnabout and new guidelines issued on April 26 th.
It is looking better,so let’s hope she gets it sorted.
Thanks again everyone ,so much help from you.
Viktoria.

Rosie, were you informed you could not have the injections?
If so have you since been informed you could have them.?
I wonder if it is at the GP’s discretion?
Wales seems to be more on the ball about it ,where do you live,my daughter
is in Suffolk..
 Many thanks
Viktoria.
There are two informative sites,PAS - Pernicious Anaemia Society.
